GMAT

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) – Focus Edition is comprised of three sections that demonstrate the specific skills required to become successful in a graduate management program.

  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Data Insights

The exam is 2 hours and 15 minutes long (with one optional 10-minute break) and consists of 64 questions in total.

  • Quantitative Reasoning: 21 questions, 45 minutes
  • Verbal Reasoning: 23 questions, 45 minutes
  • Data Insights: 20 questions, 45 minutes

Review & Edit

Review & Edit tool gives you more control over the answers to your questions by allowing you to edit responses later in each section.

Section Order

You can answer the three sections in any order, giving you a more personalized testing experience. You can also take your optional 10-minute break whenever you choose: after the first section, or after the second. This means that you can adapt the exam to exactly how you’ve prepared for it, giving you more opportunities to perform at your best.

Score Sending

You can select which schools you want to receive your free score reports after you’ve taken the exam, knowing exactly how you performed. This means you can focus on taking the test without worrying about your score going to schools yet.

Results Delivered Fast

Within 3-5 days* of completing the exam, you will receive a detailed Official Score Report that provides deep insights into your performance across the exam, including (but not limited to):

  • Performance by Section
  • Performance by Program & School
  • Performance by Content Domain (subject area), Question Type, and Skills
  • Time Management

GMAT Exam – Focus Edition Total Score is based on your performance on all 3 sections of the exam, with each section weighted equally. Your score is also valid for five years, giving you the flexibility to send your score to schools when you are ready!

Score Breakdown

GMAT Exam – Focus Edition total score scale ranges from 205 to 805, and all total score values end in a 5-Section scores range from 60 to 90.

In addition to the score scale recalibration, the following key changes distinguish GMAT Exam – Focus Edition:

  • The total score is now comprised of all 3 section scores.

  • The content areas and test constructs have been refined to narrow scope to focus on data literacy, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

  • The scoring algorithm has been updated

  • The new Question Review & Edit feature will have implications for testing behavior

Your Unofficial Score

Immediately after completing the exam, your unofficial scores for the Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights, as well as your Total Score are displayed on-screen. You are not allowed to record, save, screenshot, or print your unofficial score. You will receive an email notification when your Official Score Report is available in your mba.com account.

Score Penalty for Unanswered Questions

There is a penalty for not completing each section of the exam. If you do not finish in the allotted time, your score will be penalized reflecting the number of questions unanswered. GMAT Exam – Focus Edition score will be the best reflection of your performance when all questions are managed to be answered within the time limit.
